🛠️ Materials You'll Need
Two wooden panels (approx. 12" × 9")
Two small metal hinges
Screws (short enough not to poke through the wood)
Drill and screwdriver
Sandpaper
Optional: wood stain or paint for finishing
🧰 Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the Panels
Use one panel as the base and the other as the backrest.
Sand the edges and surfaces to remove splinters and rough spots.
Attach the Hinges
Position the panels at a right angle.
Mark hinge placement about 2" from each side.
Drill pilot holes and screw the hinges in place to connect the panels.
Add a Support Brace (Optional)
To keep the backrest upright, attach a small triangular brace or a folding leg behind it.
You can use a scrap piece of wood or a metal bracket.
Customize the Finish
Paint or stain the wood to match your style.
Add felt pads underneath if you want to protect your desk surface.
Test It Out
Place a book on the stand and adjust the angle.
Make sure it’s stable and comfortable for reading.
💡 Bonus Ideas
Add a pencil groove or small shelf at the bottom for notes.
Use recycled materials like cardboard or ice cream sticks for a lightweight version.
Want something more decorative? Try carving patterns or adding a nameplate.
