Dhamchara Mystery, last part.

(00:00:07):

So let us begin the last part of this short story, the Dhamchara Mystery.

(00:00:16):

So in the last part,

(00:00:18):

we have discussed that a long-term war which was going on for a long time was

(00:00:29):

suddenly finished in one day.

(00:00:34):

So Professor Nath has visited Dr. Gomesh to know the mystery why.

(00:00:45):

So now why he has visited Dr. Gomesh is that Dr. Gomesh is one of the friend

(00:00:59):

along with Raj and Rahul who is expert in deciphering ancient script.

(00:01:05):

Earlier also they have deciphered multiple ancient script which were until then unknown to anybody.

(00:01:18):

However, they decrypt those script as a hobby, not as a profession.

(00:01:28):

Actually Raji is the owner of a magazine.

(00:01:31):

He stays in Delhi.

(00:01:34):

Rahul is another friend.

(00:01:36):

He is a mystery writer, novel writer who stays in Mumbai.

(00:01:42):

And Gomej is a professor,

(00:01:43):

not professor,

(00:01:46):

he is an assistant professor in a college situated in Damchara,

(00:01:52):

Assam.

(00:01:53):

And in this Damchara, this story is all about.

(00:01:58):

So in the earlier parts,

(00:02:01):

earlier two parts,

(00:02:02):

we have discussed about how Professor Nath approaches Rahul,

(00:02:08):

sorry,

(00:02:08):

approaches Dr.

(00:02:09):

Gomes in his home to know the mystery of this war,

(00:02:18):

which has suddenly finished in one day.

(00:02:20):

This war was fought by the Kingsmen and the tribesmen

(00:02:27):

or at this very place.

(00:02:29):

In Dhamchara,

(00:02:31):

the Kingsmen,

(00:02:32):

that is the soldiers of Sena dynasty,

(00:02:37):

fought a long war with the tribesmen known as Tunga tribe.

(00:02:44):

So Senas won their land within their kingdom,

(00:02:50):

but Tunga refused to surrender their land to them and that is where the war started.

(00:02:56):

But the tribesmen are so brave and so tenacious and so active during the war that

(00:03:09):

kingsmen cannot defeat them easily.

(00:03:14):

And the war was running for a long time.

(00:03:17):

But suddenly what happened is this war is finished in one single day.

(00:03:25):

Right?

(00:03:26):

Now, no one knows why.

(00:03:29):

And this Professor Nath is saying that there is one book written in Tunggu language

(00:03:36):

that has all the answers.

(00:03:39):

So that is why he wants to first decrypt or rather first discover that manuscript

(00:03:48):

and then decrypt the language to find the mystery.

(00:03:55):

So for decrypting the language, he sought the help of these three friends.

(00:04:01):

Professor Nath has at first contacted Raj.

(00:04:05):

Raj has given the number of Gomech because he is already in Dhamchara and this

(00:04:10):

mystery is located here only.

(00:04:15):

So the Professor Nath requests him to be a part of this quest.

(00:04:26):

such that a long-term mystery which is hidden in the history of this area where Dr.

(00:04:33):

Gomes is staying can be revealed.

(00:04:37):

And remember, this is a mystery.

(00:04:41):

If it is revealed, then many wars can be stopped in that way.

(00:04:47):

So that was the main goal of this quest for revealing the mystery of Damcharak.

(00:04:54):

Why the war has stopped?

(00:04:56):

in one day.

(00:04:59):

Now the thing is that Raj, Rahul and Gumej, all of them are little bit skeptic about this.

(00:05:09):

They are very doubtful about the motive of Prof. Nath.

(00:05:18):

So when all three friends come to Dhamchara and was in a meeting,

(00:05:25):

in the house of gomez dr gomez all the meeting is very formal uh informal uh but

(00:05:33):

they are discussing with each other and they are very friendly with each other

(00:05:36):

because they are childhood friends so they are discussing why professor nath is

(00:05:42):

into this so they called professor nath and professor nath has a meeting with them

(00:05:50):

and in the meeting professor not understood

(00:05:56):

the hesitation of these three friends in joining his quest for revealing Dhamchara Mystery.

(00:06:08):

So, according to the Professor, I want to explain the motive of Professor by his own verbatim.

(00:06:20):

I understand your query.

(00:06:22):

You may think that I am here for my personal gain.

(00:06:26):

in terms of my career or financial stability.

(00:06:30):

However,

(00:06:31):

if that were the case,

(00:06:33):

I could have approached any other ancient script decoder who would decipher the

(00:06:39):

script for a fee,

(00:06:41):

for a remuneration.

(00:06:43):

But sir, I am not pursuing personal gain.

(00:06:46):

I am a scholar and I am not motivated by money as I have plenty of it.

(00:06:52):

My passion lies in uncovering the secrets within the scripts.

(00:06:56):

If we can understand the true secret, we can apply it to the modern times.

(00:07:03):

This is critical because many countries are currently at war with their neighbors

(00:07:10):

and we need to find a way to stop this war.

(00:07:13):

But how?

(00:07:16):

No one seems to have the answer.

(00:07:22):

That is the reason why,

(00:07:23):

if anyone can provide us a viable substitution,

(00:07:27):

we have potential to save a substantial amount of money and human lives by swiftly

(00:07:33):

ending a war,

(00:07:41):

possibly within a day.

(00:07:45):

as is the case for the war between the Sena dynasty and the Tunga tribe.

(00:07:58):

Raj was taken aback by the professor's response and was unable to believe Professor

(00:08:03):

Nath's altruistic intentions.

(00:08:07):

He genuinely believed that the professor meant what he said.

(00:08:13):

Turning to

(00:08:16):

Turning back to his friends, Raj queried about their opinion.

(00:08:22):

Where to begin, said Dr. Komich.

(00:08:27):

And also Ghosh.

(00:08:31):

Both Professor and Raj understood that all four of them were now convinced about

(00:08:36):

the intention of the Professor.

(00:08:39):

So, Professor said, we must visit a place called Chattinger Lake Viewpoint.

(00:08:46):

Where is it, Dr. Gomesh?

(00:08:48):

The last book written in the Tunggu language was found there by a team of foreign tourists.

(00:08:54):

But after that sightings, no other information was received by any of the interested people.

(00:09:02):

So we must begin our search from that place.

(00:09:04):

What do you think, Raj?

(00:09:07):

I agree with Professor.

(00:09:08):

What do you think, Gomesh?

(00:09:10):

Ghosh?

(00:09:11):

I also think so, Ghosh nodded affirmatively.

(00:09:15):

Jatinga Lake view point is around 6 hours drive from Damjara main city where we are sitting now.

(00:09:22):

Jatinga is a rich top settlement in Assam's Dimahasau district.

(00:09:29):

It is 330 km south of Guwahati.

(00:09:35):

The village is home to approximately 2500 Kashi Nar people plus a few Assamese.

(00:09:44):

It is well known as a site of strange bird fatalities.

(00:09:48):

It is easy to go there as the place has no terrorist activities.

(00:09:53):

But the road is treacherous, yet heavenly.

(00:09:57):

If we leave at dawn, we can arrive within 2 p.m.

(00:10:01):

Govind paused and looked at Professor Nath.

(00:10:03):

Will I book a car for the four of us tomorrow?

(00:10:07):

Yes, sure.

(00:10:10):

With this,

(00:10:10):

Professor Nath concluded the meeting as he had to run for his lodge such that he

(00:10:15):

could arrange his luggage for tomorrow's voyage to unearth the mystery of why does

(00:10:22):

a long-term war end so suddenly.

(00:10:26):

22nd August 2020, the day of journey.

(00:10:31):

At roughly 4 a.m.,

(00:10:32):

three friends board Dr.

(00:10:34):

Gomej's car and drive to the lodge where Professor Nath is staying.

(00:10:40):

When they arrived at the lodge,

(00:10:42):

Professor got into the car and the four of them set out for the Jatinga Lake

(00:10:46):

viewpoint near the Jatinga River.

(00:10:49):

After a while,

(00:10:50):

the four travelers forgot their goal and became entirely lost in the grandeur of

(00:10:57):

the countryside through which they were driving.

(00:11:00):

Nature has bestowed all of its blessings on this place.

(00:11:04):

Magnificent hills, a profound forest,

(00:11:08):

and an idyllic road cut across this heavenly environment.

(00:11:16):

Ultimately around 10 am they reach Jatinga Lake viewpoint.

(00:11:19):

Now their original work would start.

(00:11:22):

First they have to find the place where the foreigners have found the manuscript

(00:11:26):

written in the Tunga language.

(00:11:28):

As per the information collected by the professor,

(00:11:31):

it was a tea shop where the foreigners had found the manuscript.

(00:11:36):

But there are two to three tea shops in this place and none of them has any idea about this.

(00:11:42):

By showing the pictures of that group of foreigners,

(00:11:45):

no one was able to identify them,

(00:11:48):

let alone locate the manuscript.

(00:11:51):

After investigating the other shops also, they could not find any whereabouts of the manuscript.

(00:11:57):

All four were rejected and decided to call it quits for the day.

(00:12:02):

They booked two rooms in the homestay just a kilometer away from Lakeview Point.

(00:12:07):

The homestay is situated in a charming village surrounded by lush greenery and

(00:12:13):

inhabited by a small,

(00:12:14):

close-knit community.

(00:12:17):

The village has only one grocery store and a handful of tea shops that cater to the

(00:12:22):

daily needs of its residents.

(00:12:25):

The homestay itself boasts six spacious rooms,

(00:12:30):

all of which are positioned around a serene Buddhist temple.

(00:12:35):

The owner of the house and his family make it a daily ritual to visit the temple at

(00:12:40):

both dawn and dusk,

(00:12:43):

to pay their respect to their family deity.

(00:12:45):

The proprietor, an octogenarian, lives with his wife and two adult daughters.

(00:12:51):

His wife is approximately 70 years old and both daughters have transitioned from

(00:12:57):

their adolescent years into young adulthood.

(00:13:01):

The homestay is peaceful and well organized.

(00:13:03):

After the day-long journey, none of the poor wasted any time.

(00:13:07):

They freshened up, had dinner and withdrew to their cozy beds.

(00:13:12):

Raj and Rahul are staying in one room and Dr. Gomej and Prof. Nath are in the other.

(00:13:18):

Both rooms are located side by side.

(00:13:21):

Next morning, Raj, Rahul, Madhusudan Gomej and Prof. Nath were having tea at the nearby shop.

(00:13:30):

They felt refreshed and ready to begin their search again.

(00:13:33):

After paying the bill for the tea and few biscuits,

(00:13:36):

they started to survey the area,

(00:13:39):

discussed with local people and also looked in the government offices located there.

(00:13:46):

They also visited the old temples and libraries in the area.

(00:13:51):

However, all their searches were in vain.

(00:13:54):

No manuscripts written in the Tunga language were found and most of the people

(00:13:58):

didn't know about the Tunga tribe either.

(00:14:01):

So with a dejected heart and frustrated face, they returned to their homestay.

(00:14:07):

All four of them were discussing with each other about their next steps at Raj and

(00:14:13):

Rahul's room when the owner of the homestay came inside their room.

(00:14:23):

So I heard that four of you

(00:14:29):

I heard that he was looking for a manuscript written in Tunga script.

(00:14:35):

He queried.

(00:14:36):

The owner of the homestay is quite fit,

(00:14:39):

even if his age is 81,

(00:14:42):

although all of his hair color is now turned white and so has his mustache and beard,

(00:14:55):

but his voice

(00:14:58):

I heard you were looking for a manuscript written in Tungus script.

(00:15:02):

But I am sorry to say

(00:15:26):

But I am sorry to say that you will not find that here.

(00:15:36):

But I am sorry to say that you will not find them here.

(00:15:43):

No one from the tribe now live here.

(00:15:54):

Only few people who are direct descendants of the tribe can be found at the village

(00:16:03):

located at three kilometers located at

(00:16:23):

three kilometers across the forest.

(00:16:31):

Three kilometers across the deep forest.

(00:16:34):

And the tribe people are extremely .

(00:16:43):

And they still and will welcome you

(00:16:53):

Then also,

(00:16:54):

I doubt that whether they have the manuscript or not,

(00:17:00):

because all of them now speak and write in English.

(00:17:03):

They are educated by the Christian missionaries.

(00:17:06):

So I don't think there are anyone who now speak or write in this language,

(00:17:16):

which is known as the Tunggu language.

(00:17:21):

Stay still.

(00:17:21):

You can give a try.

(00:17:25):

Saying this,

(00:17:26):

he takes farewell from the four members of the team who have come here in search of

(00:17:32):

the manuscript written in Tunggu language.

(00:17:38):

Correct.

(00:17:42):

Thank you so much, Raj told the owner of the homestay.

(00:17:47):

Gleefully, you have saved a lot of time and cost.

(00:17:50):

We will surely give it a try.

(00:17:54):

Accordingly, the four members started their journey towards the remotest village of the place.

(00:17:59):

While going through the jungles,

(00:18:01):

they were wondering how the roads are constructed here and that also so accurately,

(00:18:06):

as the place is totally inaccessible if those roads are not constructed.

(00:18:11):

They all are thanking the engineers and planners of the road that is taking them towards their destiny.

(00:18:19):

All the road does not

(00:18:24):

Although the road does not lead to the exact location of the village,

(00:18:34):

after a while the team understood that.

(00:18:37):

Fortunately, few people of the village returned back to their home and they are from that village only.

(00:18:46):

They requested them to park their car in the

(00:18:50):

on the road and walk with members towards the village.

(00:18:54):

Accordingly, all the members start or follow the group of people and ultimately reach the village.

(00:19:02):

As told to them by the owner of the homestay,

(00:19:05):

the villagers welcome them with open hearts and offer them refreshments.

(00:19:12):

However, their search for the manuscript may remain inconclusive

(00:19:19):

as no one from the village could even read into the language.

(00:19:30):

They say that the last person to know this language died last year,

(00:19:35):

in a landslide,

(00:19:37):

which also destroyed his house and other belongings.

(00:19:41):

His family built a new house nearby, but all his possessions are now lost in oblivion.

(00:19:49):

Now everybody of us write and speak in English or Hindi or Swamis, but not in Tunggu language.

(00:19:57):

Although the four members of the team was highly impressed by the way these remote

(00:20:03):

villagers are communicating with them in clear English,

(00:20:09):

but they also understood that it is now nearly impossible to find a manuscript

(00:20:15):

written in that ancient state.

(00:20:17):

So they decided to quit and return back to their homestay.

(00:20:24):

They also decided that they will return today to Dhamchhara.

(00:20:33):

Accumulating that they will visit and then drove straight to the homestay.

(00:20:39):

There they inform

(00:20:45):

the owner about an encounter with the villagers.

(00:20:49):

Then they check out the homestay.

(00:20:52):

Before going out from Jatinga, they stopped their car into one of the tea shop.

(00:21:01):

They had not noticed earlier.

(00:21:03):

It is located just beside the highway which brings them here.

(00:21:11):

They ordered tea and biscuits.

(00:21:13):

While sipping the tea, he was suddenly distracted by a sound and looked behind him.

(00:21:21):

The tea shop has a rectangular float ship.

(00:21:24):

In one side, the reception is placed from where the tea and snacks are distributed.

(00:21:33):

All the other side branches were arranged for the customers.

(00:21:37):

Raj and Rahul were seated just opposite to the reception.

(00:21:41):

Professor Nath and Dr. Gomesh were sitting in the benches placed at the left-hand wall.

(00:21:52):

While looking behind, Raj noticed a framed artwork.

(00:21:58):

By looking at a distance, it can be understood that it is at least 50 years old.

(00:22:05):

The artwork was a war scene where two parties are looking at something with all their weapons in hand.

(00:22:14):

One party seems to be a part of the king's soldier and the other party is dressed in tribal attire.

(00:22:21):

Raj got curious and informed Rahul about this.

(00:22:25):

Rahul also looks behind and he can see the picture clearly.

(00:22:33):

He asks a staff

(00:22:37):

of the tree top to bring the picture to him.

(00:22:40):

On seeing this,

(00:22:41):

Gomes and Prof.

(00:22:42):

Nath also come near to that place and all of them start to inspect the picture.

(00:22:47):

But they are doing so in a shabby manner as they know that their quest has failed

(00:22:54):

and they have lots of time in hand.

(00:22:58):

But after carefully observing the picture, all four of them have the same question.

(00:23:03):

where are the two parties at war looking at?

(00:23:08):

They are not looking at each other as they should be when two parties are at war.

(00:23:20):

Now by observing their dress and weapons, it can be easily understood that they are at war

(00:23:33):

And this war is taking place in the ancient time,

(00:23:38):

which can be at the time when the mighty Hound Dynasty ruled this area,

(00:23:47):

or maybe more,

(00:23:49):

maybe older than that.

(00:23:51):

But where are they looking at?

(00:23:55):

They are looking at a person standing on the high land.

(00:23:59):

This person has a rod in his hand, which has a symmetric shape.

(00:24:03):

who may transfer to the team.

(00:24:05):

But that is impossible because the attar and weapon of the army at war indicate

(00:24:10):

that this picture is drawn at a time when weapons cannot be made in a symmetric shape.

(00:24:21):

Ancient civilization used materials available to them like wood, stone, fire and metal to make weapons.

(00:24:31):

Here is how weapons were made in different eras.

(00:24:34):

Stone Age Weapons were made from stone and wood, shaped and joined together.

(00:24:39):

For example,

(00:24:40):

a hand axe was made by shaping a stone into a cutting edge and attaching it to a

(00:24:44):

wooden handle,

(00:24:45):

using animal tendons or sinews.

(00:24:54):

Early humans, spears were first made from bamboo as early as 9th to 10th century.

(00:25:01):

Mesopotamians, at the middle of the 3rd millennium BC, mace heads were cast from copper.

(00:25:11):

At the Bronze Age, weapons were made from bronze.

(00:25:15):

Later civilizations, weapons were made from iron and steel.

(00:25:19):

Early people used weapons for hunting food and protection.

(00:25:23):

Ancient civilizations developed specialized bows and arrows, spears and swords for warfare.

(00:25:33):

Some civilizations also used liquid fire,

(00:25:35):

which was projected onto enemy ships using siphons and could burn on water.

(00:25:42):

But the rod this person is carrying, and if I am not wrong, it is in the modern era.

(00:25:49):

Another point to observe is the attire of this person.

(00:25:52):

It is quite modern compared to the clothing worn by the kingsmen and tribes, explained Prof. Nath.

(00:26:00):

On consultation with the staff and also with the owner of the shop,

(00:26:03):

who is quite old,

(00:26:05):

they learned that this artwork was gifted by a librarian.

(00:26:09):

Walking near their village.

(00:26:11):

Which village?

(00:26:12):

shouted Professor Nath in excitement.

(00:26:14):

The village where the Tungu tribe stay.

(00:26:17):

The owner replied with a frightened tone.

(00:26:21):

He was little shaky due to the increased tone of Professor.

(00:26:25):

That means the village we had visited.

(00:26:29):

Let us go to the village again.

(00:26:30):

This may be our last chance.

(00:26:32):

Professor Nath concluded and ran towards their car.
